ABOUT
About
Visit the virtual exhibition Face to Face to discover the human experience behind tactical operations, a lesser known side of military operations. How? By meeting members of the Canadian Armed Forces who took part in five different 21st century missions.
Op ATHENA (2003-2011): war in Afghanistan Op HESTIA (2010): earthquake in Haiti (aircraft service and support of the country’s government) Op MOBILE (2011): surveillance of the no-fly zone over Libya and protection of civilians Op REASSURANCE (2014-2020): NATO assurance and deterrence measures in Central and Eastern Europe Op IMPACT (2015): fight against Daesh.
The soldiers’ accounts reveal not just how their missions were run but also delve into their personal experiences. These men and women had professional experiences that were often diffcult, and yetalso amazing at times. They got to meet people from other countries, talk with them and exchange knowledge and know-how. These stories are presented in this virtual exhibition, along with objects and photographs related to these military operations.
